Even Intel, the computer chip maker, wants to get into the Web 2.0 bandwagon. Intel wants to take web app development one step further. Imagine if your web based application could be aware of the platform it it running on, not talking about the browser or the OS, but the platform, the machine itself.

That is basically the idea behind this Intel Web 2.0 Technology Development Kit (TDK). The development kit will allow developers to learn about platform’s configuration like, the display, storage, processor, bandwidth, connectivity, and all that within a browser using JavaScript.

Imagine if your web based application could leverage on Intel’s multi-core processor power.

I don’t see this to pick up very soon for web developers on web based application, the computer needs to run the Intel’s code in order for this to work. However I could see this being useful to those who developed browser’s plugins, or may be widgets.
