Yahoo! launch it’s Digg.com like suggestion service, calling it the Yahoo Suggestion Board. Of cause Digg fanboys are all up in arms against this.

Yahoo however did credited Digg for creating the user based voting system on a blog post, it takes two to tango. On the other hand Yahoo Suggestion Board is not a direct competitor to Digg as what Netscape did previously. In this Yahoo service, user submit suggestion regarding Yahoo’s products, and the user community voted on the suggestion.

This is a great concept. Yahoo is basically letting their community of users to direct their product direction. Will other companies pick this up and actually let it’s users submit product features and let their users decide (by voting on it) which features should be recommended? This is much better then a feedback form.

The trend these days is to let your users to be in control or at least give them the idea that they are in control.
