We have seen the Google Zeitgeist, the crystal ball to the future, but what about Wikipedia? What is the most popular Wikipedia entry of 2006?

According to this article from Advertising Age, the result from Nielsen BuzzMetrics as measured from January 1, 2006 through December 10, 2006, the most popular Wikipedia entry is “Web2.0“. I always ran to trouble during conversation and babble out the term “Web2.0″. I then have to struggle to explain what “Web2.0″ means.

“What is the different between Web2.0 and Web1.0?”

“There was a Web1.0?”

Most of the general public seems to think that Web2.0 and Web1.0 are similar to 3G and 2G cellular networks.

Most of the time I just point to Wikipedia in order explain Web2.0 is. I guess I wasn’t alone as the Web2.0 entry is the most popular page in Wikipedia.

2nd and 3rd on the top 10 most popular Wikipedia entry list are, Steve Irwin and Mark Foley Scandal.

Here are some interesting part, the term Blog, Ajax, Meme, Wiki, and RSS are also on the list. There was a strong interest on web development and web technology during 2006. This is great because those are the things I’ve always been talking / evangelizing the whole year. I’m glad that I’m not alone in this. I hope this interest in the web will grow in 2007.
