This blogger from IT-Sideways blog was asking how do we (Malaysian) buy music from Apple’s iTunes Store. While this other blogger from MyMacBUZZ has the solution. Now if both of them read my blog problem solve, no?

Anyway to sum up the blog entry on MyMacBUZZ, you will need to have an iTunes gift card, guess what? MyMacBUZZ is giving away 2 free iTunes gift card as Christmas gifts.

The reason of why iTunes or any other online music store not opening up it’s doors to us or, is not because of the large piracy issues. The fact, as I’ve mentioned before, is that each countries has it’s own variety of copyright laws, entertainment tax laws, import laws or taxes, Internet laws and such. Each country has their own version of their RIAA to “protect” their money the “industry”.

Also some countries imposed ban on certain artist and such. Apple, Yahoo! or any other online music download services must be aware of that.

There are just too many things going on and with this hustle plus the fact that the general buying power here is not that great, it is just not worth it for Apple to open a Malaysian iTunes Store. Beside the “Apple” brand is still not strong enough.

Are such laws and regulation limit the true potential of the Internet? Could we someday have a truly global community?

Then again if Apple were to open iTunes Store Malaysia, I’m pretty sure it will be filled with Siti Nurhaliza and Mawi songs.
