Computer Wizardry, Esoteric Spirituality, and Mind-altering Substances

Yes that is me on the picture, yes the slide titles say “Web2.0″.
Myself and 6 other UNITEN student (but only 5 including myself turn up) was given the opportunity to present their final project to some MSC MDeC and investors. The event was held at UNITEN. I did promise to put up some info regarding my project, I’ll put it up as soon as I have the time.
As I was told I’ll presenting to potential VCs (venture capitalist) thought I put in some “buzzword” to spice things up.
Other projects that were showcased on that day were, a space exploration game, a multimedia application that teaches you bowling, a clinic management system, and one cool web cam to your mobile thing. Not only that you could receive images from your web cam to your mobile phone, there is actually a device that you can control via your phone to pan the camera left or right or just scan. Pretty slick.
We also receive feedbacks from these industry experts and some information on how to go on looking for investors and funding. The way I see it, investors are not interested in “technology” but more on the “business plan”. If you have a great idea for a new technology, but you can’t come up with a solid and profitable business plan around it, you’ll have a hard time getting investors to listen to your idea.
You can see the rest of the photos on my Flickr site. The photos was taken by my friend, I love the way how she manages to get me, my slides and my Powerbook in the frame.

Thanks for the photos Belle
Hello Mr.J, i did joined the event that day but from the audience’s seat of course. Well done for your presentation on Web2.0, it was interesting. Plus, i do agree that the investors were interested in business rather than technology. Isn’t technology is a business itself nowadays? Anyhow, i’m glad that i did spent some time in that theater room..kinda prepare me mentally for my final year project presentation soon.
I haven’t put much thought on commercialization when I did the project. May be it’s something you should look into while doing your project. Good luck!
