This just in. Hot from the press. Apple just announced that Google CEO Eric Schmidt has joined Apple’s board of director. Schmidt is now the eighth member on Apple’s board.

This could mean big changes on the industry or then again, it may not change anything at all. What I hope will happen, some of Goolge’s Internet knowhow could rub of Apple and some of Apple’s sense of design could rub of Google, I do think Google really need that.

Though I hope this sort of relationship will spark something more then just an Google iPod wrap, but I think there wont be any major announcements about any major collaboration.

Valleywag however, puts it, “this has to be a lousy day at Microsoft HQ.”. Om Malik of GigaOm also mentions that this soft alliance might be a potential headaches not just for Microsoft but for anyone with digital media ambitions.
