Computer Wizardry, Esoteric Spirituality, and Mind-altering Substances
Visualization is currently the ‘in’ thing right now. Everybody seems to be doing it. If you remember and did watch the special Diggnation show where Kevin Rose launch Digg version 3, he showed some really cool visualization tools for Digg.com but we have to wait a little while before we could see it for ourself. Well wait no more.
Digg Labs is live. You could head over to Digg Labs and see for yourself the visualization tools there. Currently there are 2 projects in Digg Labs done in collaboration with Digg partner Stamen Design. The two projects are, ’stack’ and ’swarm’.

Digg Stack shows diggs occuring in real time on up to 100 stories at once. Diggers fall from above and stack up on popular stories. Brightly colored stories have more diggs.
You could see how the stories grows in the certain amount of time. It’s all in real-time.

Digg Swarm draws a circle for stories as they’re dugg. Diggers swarm around stories, and make them grow. Brightly colored stories have more diggs.
Swarm lets you see how a dig user jumps from one story to another. You could alos see links between those submitted stories.
How useful this it to a common Digg user? Not much really, but it’s sure is damn cool. My guess that this could be a tool for the Digg admins to fine Spams and Spammers in Digg.
What I’m looking foward though is when Digg releases it’s API and lets everybody hack up some cool application. Can’t wait to get my hands on that.
