Right now there are over 30 million blogs, and the numbers are increasing. While Google, no doubt is the standard in searching the internet, but it is just not fast enough to crawl and index blogs.

Before there were Sphere, Technorati is the only place I got to search the blogosphere on certain topic. Sometime it’s more fun to search the blogosphere as you could get the latest blog post about the topic you are searching.

So what does Sphere offers?

You could sort results by time or relevance. You could search result of blog post in the last hour, in the last 12 hours, the last day and so on. But the cool part would be the “custom range filter”, which allows you to sort result from only one single specific date or between two dates. It has the cool graph control thingy that enable you to adjust your result.

Another nifty feature is the “Sphere It!” bookmarklet. Put it in your browser. Then, whenever you found an interesting website, and you are wondering what other bloggers have to say about the topic on the site, just click the “Sphere It!” and you will be directed to Sphere’s result page with links to other blog post that are related to whatever site you were on just now.

It also seems that Sphere has made quite a mark, as Time magazine (Time.com) has embedded a number of it’s articles with the “Sphere It!” button. TechCrunch has more info on that. Check it out.
