Computer Wizardry, Esoteric Spirituality, and Mind-altering Substances
So the rumors were true. Both Writely and Google had confirmed on their blog about the acquisition. Congratulation to the Writely team.
I wrote about Writely a while back. It’s a very nice Web based word processor. One of the advantages of a Web based word processor such Writely is the availability to collaborate. To me, the best Writely feature is the ability to export to different file format such as .doc (Microsoft Word) and .pdf (Adobe Acrobat).
So does this means Google is serious in creating a Web based office suite? If it is so, they are hitting hard on Microsoft Office Live project. If Microsoft is going to a Web based office suite path.
I hope with this Google acquisition, Writely will remain free and still grow. For now Writely is not accepting any new registration, until they have migrate smoothly into Google software architecture, which I think wont take a long time.
