I’ve always been a fan of 37signals with their development methodologies and design philosophies. 37signals is the company that bought to us those cool, simple Web applications such as Basecamp, Campfire, Backpack, Writeboard, and Ta-da List not to forget Ruby on Rails.

Getting Real

I’ve being waiting for their book, Getting Real for quite sometime, was a little bit disappointed to see there is only the PDF version on sale right now. This is definitely a title I would buy.

What is the book about?

Getting Real details the business, design, programming, and marketing principles of 37signals. The book is packed with keep-it-simple insights, contrarian points of view, and unconventional approaches to software design. This is not a technical book or a design tutorial, it’s a book of ideas.

Who should read the book?

Anyone working on a web app — including entrepreneurs, designers, programmers, executives, or marketers — will find value and inspiration in this book.

The PDF download book cost $19. There are 4 free teaser chapter available for you to download. The first few paragraph best describe the ideas that the book is pitching to you.

Getting Real is about skipping all the stuff that
represents real (charts, graphs, boxes, arrows, schematics,
wirefames, etc.) and actually building the real thing.

Getting real is less. Less mass, less software, less features,
less paperwork, less of everything that’s not essential (and
most of what you think is essential actually isn’t).
