I have been using quite a few social bookmarking services, del.icio.us, blinklist, diigo, furl and more. All of them are quite similar in a sense that all of them are services that lets you store and share your bookmark online. Most of them implement a non-hierarchal folksonomy (tagging) concept as a form of information management. Yes, using big words do make me look smart.

Most online social bookmarking service has RSS feed everywhere. You can get your list of bookmark site on your site or blog or whatever.

I wish this type of services is to have a more open API.

What I like to do in this services is to check how many people bookmark my site. Am I that self-centered? del.icio.us has a bookmarklet that lets you do that, check who has bookmark the site.

How about this as a feature. The availability to pull out bookmark stats. A little JavaScript may be, that check the current page it is on, how many people has bookmark it, and then display it.

I’ll use Blinklist as an example here, I would like to be able to put a little code on my blog that would say, “32 people has blink this site. Would you like to blink it? or “nobody has blink this site, would you like to be the first to blink it?. Other social bookmark services take note on this too.

With an open API somebody could write a WordPress or Movable Type plug-in for it.

I know del.icio.us has tools to pull out your bookmark. Blinklist and some of them have tools to get your “tag clouds on your blog. I haven’t seen any of these services that could do what I’ve said just now. But then again I might have missed it, there might already be a plug-in someone have written that I haven’t heard of it. Please comment if you know something I don’t.

Simpy has something close - see this or this and if you want to run it for any site you come across, get the goods here.

But, yes, what you really want is something like your Feedburner thing on the right, a little ego-satisfying thing, right?

Nice, I like you BlinkList button idea. I agree and I think you can do lot with the social bookmarks data too. del.icio.us independant apps show some of the things that can be done.
It seems that bookmark services are allready busy ameliorating and adding features and they are open to any new idea, have you sumbitted it?
