Computer Wizardry, Esoteric Spirituality, and Mind-altering Substances
As up to now, I still haven’t receive my Google Analytic or Measure Map invitation. Oh well life goes on. I’ve been using Mint for about one month now. I love it.
First of all Mint is not free, heck Mint is not cheap. It cost $30 USD per domain / site to use Mint. Let me put it into perspective of how much is $30 USD really cost to someone not in the US, more accurately someone here in Malaysia. $30USD is equivalent to roughly around RM112 Malaysian Ringgit. A McDonald’s Big Mac here cost about RM5.50. Put that into calculation $30 of Mint installation is equivalent to about 20 Big Mac here. That is a lot.

Mint is a PHP, MySQL, JavaScript application that you install on your site to monitor your web traffic statistic. I have to admit, this is my first time paying for a PHP / MySQL base application. Most of PHP base web application are free.

The installation is easy enough. When you pay, you will get an Activation Key, enter it and you are set. Just like a software you install on your computer. However, check Mint requirements first before you get to excited. Mint wont work on just any server. Download Mint Server Compatibility Suite, and test it on your server first.
After one whole month Mint running on my site, I’m addicted to it. I found myself looking at it all the time. Every chance I have I’ll look at my Mint page. When I turn on my computer, the first thing I do, before anything else, before checking my mail, before reading feeds, I check my Mint site. Have I become a “stat whore”?
Statistic have always been a boring subject to me but Mint had changed that. It could have been the gorgeous look, or the way stats information is presented but Mint has made stats fun.

Basic Mint installation is pretty basic. What make Mint better are Peppers. You can download Peppers for your Mint. Sort of like mini programs that makes your Mint better. Some tracks users some give a better way of presenting information. My favorite Pepper is the Fresh View, it display a graph for your stats, Trends that sort of shows you the performance of your pages. There are tons of other Peppers out there for Mint.

Check out the demo video to have a better picture of what Mint can do.
$30 per site is not a cheap price, but it is a reasonable one. You see, $30 is for one domain, forever. If you change domain you could just change it over at your Mint account. Sounds reasonable to me.

RM112 for one domain. I’ve been using it since it came out and I find it’s money well spent. 20 big macs really unhealthy you know? A bit time consuming though since I am logged in to see my stats heaps of times everyday. It kind of puts you in the position of The Big Brother on your own site if you know what I mean. Cheers.
Hehehe Ethan you are right, Mint is far more healthy then 20 Big Mac.
Anyway in case anybody out there don’t get why I made the Big Mac refference check this out
