Del.icio.us competition is everywhere. Blinklist is one of the non-Del.icio.us site that I’ve used and like. It is beautifully AJAX powered and does what del.icio.us does and more.

It has all the important feature a social bookmarking should have. Tagging, folksonomy way of organizing content. Your own tag cloud. Public and private bookmarking. Bookmarklet for easy fast bookmarking. Watchlist where you could watch what other users. RSS feeds for all pages.

There is also quick blink bookmarklet for fast bookmarking. It tags the site as quick blinks and private. You can later comeback and view it and tag it properly. Good feature for fast random bookmarking.

Adding star to a bookmark also is another good feature. It’s like marking your favorite site for easy search.

Another useful feature is, auto fill description field by highlighting text on the site you are blinking (bookmark). You highlight sometext, click in the blinklist bookmarklet, the description is automatically fill with the text, add your tags and click blink to save it.

For switcher from del.icio.us and LookSmart’s Furl (another fine social bookmarking service) there is an import function that lets you import from your bookmark from those site. If you are looking for an alternative to del.icio.us, try out Blinklist. Diigo is also a great alternative but currently it’s a close beta.
