Computer Wizardry, Esoteric Spirituality, and Mind-altering Substances

I got the chance to try out Newsvine, a new social news aggregator, similar with Digg but has all kinds of extra functionality. It combines live Associated Press content and user submitted articles.
From Newsvine:
Welcome to the Newsvine collective. A place where anyone can read, write and influence the news.
Apart from being able to read tons of Associated Press news articles and user submitted articles on Newsvine, you could discuss the news on the commenting system or the live chatrooms. All news articles have a live chatroom where user could discuss on the news.
There is also a voting system (similar to Digg concept). This allows Newsvine user to influence the news, what makes it to the frontpage.
Every user have their own column, where they could submit news articles. Here, view my column. You get a sub-domain name for your column, youname.newsvine.com. You could also earn revenue with your column, ads function will be added once Newsvine goes public I guess, right now it’s still in close beta.
Another way to contribute to Newsvine is to “seed” it. Instated of writing article you could link to news articles you found on the web.
Another feature I like is the watchlist. You can watch an author or a tag. On the left sidebar under your watchlist it shows how many new articles that have been submited under that author or tag.
I didn’t spend much time on writing articles but Newsvine has now become my source of news content. Newsvine is going the change the way we read news on the web, well at least it has change the way I read news on the web.
Right now Newsvine is still in close beta phase, but I got a couple of invites left, drop me a line if you are interested.
