Talkr, podcast your blog?

edit

Talkr logoTalkr is a service that will let your blog speak for itself. It gives you an audio version of your blog entries. How it does that is by looking at your blog feeds and then have some speech software thing to read it.

Mac OSX have a feature that cound read text to you, in fact talkr audio sound just exactly like the Mac OSX version.

The idea is to turn your blog entries into a podcast. Talkr will give you a RSS feed of the audio version of your blog entries. People then could put this on their iPodder or whatever thing that they use to get podcasts. Sounds good on paper.

If you really are thinking of producing a podcast base on some software reading your blog entries, you must be aware of that while writing your entries. It doesn’t quite work yet I think. Try listen to my post about the PHP easter egg, it tries to read the codes. Or try listen to my posting about holophony, it says listen to this but you can’t here the holophonic sound because, when I writing listen to this I’m referring to the sound that you have to download form the site. You could listen to the talkr audio version of my blog entries by clicking to listen this on the side.

Here are some of my recommendations:

  1. The girl talking still sound very software-ish, computer generated. May be could improve on that?
  2. I would like it if there is an option to change the voice, more manly, or more of a sexy tone.
  3. A little light ambient music playing in the background would be nice.

p/s: I wonder how would it say “talkr”.
